   A B lymphocyte is selected by an antigen to proliferate.
   The  clone  of  B cells differentiate into long-lived memory cells and
   short-lived plasma cells.

   The  plasma cells secrete antibodies, or immunoglobulins, resulting in
   elimination of foreign particles.
